NCUA INCREASED SHARE INSURANCE TO $250,000 EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

The passing of the "Emergency Economic Stabilization Act"  on October 3, 2008 has temporarily increased federal savings insurance coverage to $250,000 through December 31, 2009.  Credit Union deposits are covered by NCUSIF, similar to the FDIC for banks.

The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) is the federal agency that administers the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF). The NCUSIF, like the FDIC’s Deposit Insurance Fund, is a federal insurance fund backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. Government.

As of October 2008, your savings are federally insured to at least $250,000 and backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. Government (NCUA), a U.S. Government Agency.
